It´s been 9 months since this thread started, time enough to carry a baby full term but no concrete plans have been made.
Lalli Sig, Ragga2000, a few others encouraged me to show a plan that I made, let´s see if people are still interested.
I will open a fresh thread to see your reaction.

If any active DPC members are traveling to Iceland I still would be interested in a "mini GTG", like a daytrip or something like that. It´s a good time to visit, the currency is very low, you get about 127 ISK for every $ now but a year ago you only got about 70-80 ISK for every $.

I was actually planning on coming last month, but some things came up at work and I had to postpone. What's August like for you? What's the shooting like that time of year, or should I rather come later?

August is a little early if you want to shoot borealis but otherwise usually the best weather month along with july so by all means.

Yep, I don´t blame you, I still haven´t heard from Heiða so I dunno if this thing is going to happen or not. Anyway if anybody is still coming to Iceland this summer by themselves, you can at least send me a PM and if I am available we´ll just arrange a "mini GTG".

Larus-You still owe me a beer, right?

Since I may have some time off in a few weeks, I thought I'd pop by for a drink...

Of course I do, as a matter of fact I thought it was two :) If you do get here let me know in advance!

OK. It's two beers, then. :)

I suppose if I go to Iceland maybe I should see some ice? But I'm not a stickler for details when vacation time lands in my lap...if the price is right.

Honestly, that image is really scary and I've seen a few Iceland shots like it. Looking at the date it was uploaded I assume that might be a little extreme but it's still part of the "bleh" you're talking about in the Springtime???

eta: I doubt this one would show up on an Icelandic vacation poster...

Since I may have some time off in a few weeks, I thought I'd pop by for a drink but I'll take your word for it on the "bleh" side of things. It was just a thought since the airefare and accomodations are so cheap at this time.

I haven't been keeping up on this thread too well but it looks like there's no movement or solid plans yet...or at all.

Cheers!

yeah, when I was there the exchange rate for the dollar was like 1 to 115 or so. might vary a little bit now but still its fiscally a good time to go.

Honestly, personally my least favorite time of all is the Icelandic spring, no borealis, no snow, everything is yellow and dull and usually not good weather either. Summer you get vivid green and blue colors and good weather, autumn has it´s colors and soft light during morning and evenings and winter has snow, ice and borealis. Spring is just... bleh...

But that´s just me :)

How's the weather going to be in Iceland in three weeks time? I was also wondering if it's better to shoot during the Summer or the Winter...early Spring?

I hear you, and I haven´t heard from Heiða in a month about this so I don´t have a clue on what the status is, it´s her show...

I was definitely going to go - but as time wears on, I have to make plans for the summer, and I think Iceland won't be included. I even got a travel book for my birthday. *sob*

Well I know Heiða is busy busy these days and this is her "show" so I can´t or won´t say anything, perhaps a few PM´s her way will encourage her :)
