Three new statisics have been added to your challenge stat box:

(1) Number of times your photograph has been viewed, which is now calculated during voting.

(2) Number of times a user has added your photograph to their favorites.

(3) Number of times a user has added your photograph to their DPCPrints Wishlist

The 2nd two are both available during voting now.

Enjoy

I noticed the change, but was surprised to not find a thread discussing it. Then I clicked through to admin annc and saw it sitting there. Do the admin annc not drop to the home page?

I sense trouble :) I've got 2 people who've picked my entry as their favourites and 3 people want to buy prints and my score is under 5 - Y'all are a bunch of artistic ignoramuses!

Whats the difference between "Votes" and "Views"? Aren't they supposed to be the same number?

Thanks for the new features...

Somebody can view your photo without voting. Somebody can also view your photo multiple times while reviewing their votes, deciding if they are going to raise or lower their vote, for example. Right now, the "Views" stat is "wrong" for the current challenges because it was just implemented.

Also, by having the "views" counted during voting (instead of having them accumulate only after voting has ended), it will avoid the somewhat frequent "how can I have 247 votes but only 4 views?" question that makes people think there is a way to vote on the thumbnails. =]

I suspect that once it's a working feature, Views will be the number of times people have seen your full photo during the voting process. Not everyone votes on each photo they see, so the numbers could diverge. Also it might keep track of multiple views from each potential voter.

Guess I was typing too slowly... :^)

On behalf of those who have their scores hidden during voting ...

AAAAAAARRRRGHHHH!!!

What chance that the views and favourites thing could be visible but not the scores? I guess the coding might not be simple ... but ...

Oh, and are those 'views' going to be added to the post-challenge stat in our profiles?

Thanks for this though guys - more great involving stuff for the site.

HeHe - more questions :-)

If someone adds your shot to their prints wishlist, is there a mechanism to let one know? I think it likely that it's never happened to me, so I'm curious.

One seeming bug on views though. It looks like clicking on your own submission from the voting page will increment the views counter. Could just be a coincidence...

Yes. Images views will now accumulate during voting. Whether they are viewed during voting or afterwards, it still got viewed, right?

Not that I know of, which is why this new "stat" is kind of a cool way of letting the photographer know "hey, somebody is interested in this as a print!"

I am confused once again . . . . votes hidden during voting? Aren't they all? I think I am misunderstanding something.

There is an option in your Preferences to "hide" the "My Submissions" box on the left page so your score is a "surprise" and so that it doesn't (subconsciously) influence the scores you give out during voting. That is what e301 is talking about being "hidden"; he still wants to see the "Views", "Favorites" and "Wish List" stats, just not his score or number of comments received.

I don't get the point of this. In fact to me it de-values the views stats. I'm not really interested in how many people have been 'forced' to view my image during voting, but the ones who choose to go back and view it later is an invaluable statistic.

Oh well, just my tuppence ha'penny worth. The other stats sound great - will the wishlist stats be available post-challenge too?

For what it's worth, that is what I was thinking also. I would like to not have the number of views.

I think it's so that you can enter a DrJOnes style shot, and still see the stats keep updating once all the votes are already in after the first couple of days.

1000 views
2000 views
3000 views
4000 views

:)

Okay, so where do I get a DrJOnes style model before the weekend? ; )

I agree, the "Views" stat is more meaningful if it DOES NOT include views during the voting, or at least if they are tabulated separately (comments are already separated into during/post-voting sections).

View count during voting will be saved on the challenge change-over and views will be reset. I need to make sure it works (tonight) and then I'll implement it and wishlist statistics into image.php..

Adding a favorites while in the voting stage is one of the best features that can be offer. Thank you for this added feature.

Not surprising really. Tastes differ. The only print I've sold here so far was one that barely made it past 5. My top scoring picture features among many people's favourites, but I have yet to sell a copy.
