Curious if anyone here is using Blu Ray technology to back up their photos. Putting 25GB to 50GB of data on one disk sounds exciting! But while the prices have come down, it's still not cheap. And there seems to be a lot of "turnover" in this technology -- every five years or so (ZIP disks, CDs, DVDs, and now Blu-Ray).

Your thoughts?

It's still faster, cheaper, and more secure to use HDDs. The only benefit to blu-ray is it's easy to take a copy off-site, but that can easily be done with an external HDD as well.

I am planning on getting a blu-ray burner this week. However I am doing it so I can make blu-ray disks of my HD video. I might at some point use it to back up files as well but for now I run three external HD's and have no serious need for more space so I am happy where I stand. Looking forward to being able to make my own blu-ray movies though.
