Here in Texas we have lots and lots of Historic Landmarks of all kinds throughout the state. Have you guys ever done a challenge like that. My thought is that you have to put the landmark in your title so that it can be checked on if desired and then go after it. We have locations, buildings, landscapes where and event took place. They can vary from something as miniscule as a very small landscape where and event occurred, a battlefield, a road or even a building because of it's historic value or even who designed the building.

Anyway, just a thought.

We had a Landmark challenge in December 2004. In Atlanta our landmarks are limited...but there were three entries...all for the same one. the Big Chicken!

I'll second the suggestion, if only because I'm married to the OP and I wish to avoid getting "the look" I will get if I don't.

Atlanta has great landmarks...Stone Mountain, Braves Baseball field, Olympic games...

Ellen would there be an age requirement??? Landmark has to be so many years old?

I like the landmark idea......It also does not have to be a famous landmark...there is a landmark in every town , out in the country, there everywhere. It could be a country church or a courthouse. Nice idea Ellen

My thought was a registered landmark, Has to be on a list somewhere that the landmark can be checked. This may or may not include a mountain or such. We have a really cool book that's been published for Texas with all the historic landmarks in it at publication. Where I live I believe that we have 2 or 3 of them not far from us. I would also like to see the Historic information listed in the description under each entry but that's not something I would require but if they do this, I know that I will make sure to get that so it can be posted to look at after the challenge is over. I love to get curious and something and then find the answers.

This is a link to the National Historic Registry

My curiosity for other countries is how do they list their historic landmarks and is it any way like we do here in the US?
