During Roz's August side challenge there have been a few images taken and edited using the iPhone, some are fabulous. That was what prompted this idea.

As there are tons of fun photo apps for the iPhone (and I assume also for other phones like the Android), I thought it maybe a nice gentle fun SC for September.

So, anyone interested in playing? preferably editing done on phone, but no real rules necessary. If you use an app (iphone or other), let us know which one. Can be fun to get new apps.

I would have played, but Lightroom and/or Photoshop is a must. Recently finished two iPhone series using them.

OK, why not? It's a side challenge so only for fun :)

I might not post everyday, but I'll play. A cameraphone SC sounds like fun. I'm using a T-mobile G1 with Photoshop Mobile for Android. The camera on my phone stinks compared to the i-thing, so I'll make good use of the available effects.

Yes, I want to put the Droid 2 camera and Photoshop Express to work.

I can guarantee I won't post everyday either!

Do you want to know what software used for the Droids too?

Sure, someone else may not have found the same app and would enjoy it.

How will this work? We just post a pic everyday or as often as possible with the editing steps?

Actually, that's the software that I'm using as well. I used the wrong name earlier, but it's the same thing. I just downloaded the newest upgrade. There are a lot of effects added since the original version I installed a few months ago.

Some of the places we plan on hitting for our Dallas GTG next week ought to be ideal subjects for this.

Just add the steps, or just the app name, in the photog comments. I'll start an image thread on Wednesday.

I bought my G1 during the last cameraphone SC 2 years ago. Maybe this is a hint that it is time to upgrade again? The Tmobile Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy-S) looks pretty cool, but Tmobile is dropping teasers for the upcoming G2 release.

Are these apps safe? I've already had one that started displaying weird stuff on my phone. It was Antivirus I think, and when my phone was locked, it would display that this phone belonged to "whoever@email.com", then an hour later it would say "Ghostridaz Fone", and several other different names or whatever. So I'm always a little hesitant on some apps.

I'm on week 2 of my upgrade to the vibrant from the g1. It is great except there are known gps issues that samsung says will be addressed in september. G2 releases 9/29. Personally, I'd probably wait at this point. It will be the first hspa+ phone, and if your area gets that coverage, you'll be glad you have it. Hard keyboard is a plus, too.

I've never had a problem. I haven't used all of these, but they are the most popular ones. Read the comments, check the number of downloads, and pay attention to what permissions they want. I feel pretty comfortable when an app has >50,000 downloads. Most of these ones have free ad supported, and paid versions. That's a petty good sign that they want revenue, not a copy of your address book or something. Again, I use vignette (paid) as my default camera with no issue.

The G2 is the first phone I've ever felt was complete. It really feels just about perfected, granted there are always small nitpicks one can make, but truly, this phone really delivers where it's important, and all of the additional features seem to function very well. Wait for the G2, you won't be disappointed.

I am in for sure. Heh, if you don't have a camera on your phone, just do one that LOOKS like it!

I found these three free Android apps today:

Photo Illusion
Camera Illusion
Fx Camera

Have you somehow managed to get a pre-release?!

Haha. I thought that might be the case, but didn't want to assume. I would have been insanely jealous.
