Late last year I starded working on a new series on the viking gods, currently in process. Photographs are by me but the post processing is by Mari. We wanted to "modernize" the old Norse gods to see what role they would play in todays society. Here is the first shot in the series.

Good to see something new from you!

Though I thought this was going to be a discussion on whether Norse Gods were real or not. ;D

There's a TV show from New Zealand called The Almighty Johnsons which also has a modern take on the old norse gods. I like yours better :)

Douglas Adams of "Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" fame, did a nice take on the Norse Gods walking amongs us in "Long Dark Teatime Of The Soul" a truly fun read, sort of in the same vein as Neil Gaimon's "American Gods"

hanserik: I don´t watch much TV and don´t remember seeing that show on any network here in Iceland but I might check it out if it ever makes it here, thx for the link. BrennanOB, cool, when you mentioned it I remember talking about that book with a friend of mine way way WAY back, probably when I was a teenager, but I never got around to reading it, might check it out. Anyway, here is the fourth shot in the series.

Awesome Stuff. Love Pratchett, Gaiman, Adams and the like. American Gods is one of my faves. . .

What a great series of shots and all beautifully executed! (PS AND photography!!!) This is really fun to look through. So, now how will you two market these, lol?! They must be shared!!!! Brilliant!

Larus, really enjoy the photos for the sake of the subject matter, but can't help but think that Loki has been so perverted by modern interpetation as to be almot unrecognizable (though a far site better than his Marvelized versio).

Wow this series is really sweeeeeet!
07/19/2011 05:34:48 PM · #23
Thx for the compliments! Crowis, that´s the good thing about Loki though, he was supposedly a shapeshifter so there literally is no way anyone should be able to recognize him in modern society :)

Here is Njörður, god of the sea.

very boring images. Technically sharp, but convey nothing.
