I will be in the DC area on Monday...I have some time during the day (but not late day) and I was thinking of going to shoot here.

I've never been there...are the falls right near the parking; any advice on where to walk shoot from appreciated.

Also, if there's someone in the area who wants to meet up there, great!

On the Virginia side they are pretty much right there, the lot is along the river and the falls are a short walk upstream along an improved path.

You can go to the park from both Virginia and Maryland sides. And good part it is they are only 4 miles away from each other. From VA side, the viewpoints (3 viewpoints) are only few meters away from the parking lot. From MD side, there are several viewpoints, as the boardwalk is a bit long. So you need to walk for around half-a-mile to cover all the viewpoints. I have posted few images from my various shoots at Great Falls, to get an idea of what you can expect from VA side and MD side. I miss this place a lot after moving out of the DC area.

There are a lot of other attractions too in the DC area. Feel free to browse through my gallery. If you like any of the locations, please send me a message, I can give information to the best of my knowledge.

I wish I lived there now, to help you out. There are a few long-timers in the DC area that I know. You can check with them for information too. levyj413 and Budya

Good luck with the shoot. I have seen your waterfall images. You will do wonders in this place. :)

Thanks
Raj

I haven't been to the MD side this time of year, but the Virginia Bluebells should be in bloom and there are some pretty patches of them on the VA side. Just in case you want to do a Landscape With Flowers ;-) Traffic can be a real bear depending on what time of day and where you're coming from, so that's a consideration in picking a side, too.

Thanks everyone.

@Raj - It was your images that inspired me to seek this out.

Now I just have to decide if I want to try and catch a sunrise there on Monday or just go later in the day and hope for cloudy skies. I do hate getting up early!
