Hello guys, I was given the task of trying to bring some life into a very rare old photo of a family members.
Its a photo of HMS Fearless as she returned from the Gulf, and no where can we get hold of another photo. This is the only one we have, a bad one, which has lost almost all its colour.
I have scanned it in, but I am without photoshop or anything, and was wondering if anyone was willing to have a try for me?
I only have paint... and I only have until Tuesday to try my hardest with this before my partner goes back to the Navy base and would be amazing if anyone could help at all.

Sorry I am not a member anymore, but this is as large as I can get the photo.

Thanks in advance to any help of advice you guys can give

Here is one attempt. I just adjusted the levels, the contrast and boosted the saturation a bit on the reds, blues and cyan. This is at least a starting point I didn't know how far you wanted to take it. To add more color you would need to actually paint in color and I thought it looked pretty cool like this. Everything enhanced but still has that old photo feel to it.

Here's my 'attempt' Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_946787.jpg

I'm a complete novice in photoshop but thought I'd give it a try any way. Just waiting for the others to show me up now ;-)

I'll have a go at it a little later, playing a card tournament right now.

Here's my effort at it. Took a lot of selective editing to fix some areas without killing the detail that existed in others.

Here's where I'm at so far: good for color and detail, not so good for blotches :-)

As a 7 year US Navy vet this is a familiar looking scene. :) As the saying goes...at least in the US Navy....ships should be "Haze gray and Underway". I did a bunch of things including cleaning up the scan area as much as I could in short time.

The best of the bunch, I think. Two others are very good, but they seriously oversaturate and the waterline comes up blue aft of center. This one retains good color in the Union Jack and the boat with the green hull and beige-ish deck without adding unwanted color elsewhere. Great job!

Thought I would have a quick bash at this too:

Looked like a faily dark moody day so I went with an edit close to that.

Thank you ever so much guys!
I knew I could count on you to help out on something like this.
I have emailed everyone's edits to the required person, and I am certain they will be very happy!

Thanks again!
