Should be a good show.

Local midnight, point North, med - long exposures depending on latitude and location.

Avoid the lights AND the dessert. Neither are good for lenses with all that glare and sticky whipped cream.

Ah yes...but look at it this way, you can teach them about quantum magnetic interferences and pass it off as an educational field trip. :)

You can see it from Mass. Should be able to see it here in CT as well with a Kp of 7-8. Look north and you'll see a nice glow.

Course, you could look south as well....but not from here. :)

Clickable map to calculate magnetic latitude.

Yeah...just teach the kids how to write an integral sign, and some Greek letters. People tend to smile, nod, and believe you when you write Greek letters.

Local midnight, as a general rule....whatever your own time zone is. There is an optimal time of course, but around midnight will be the darkest.

I got nothing. Just some low lying clouds reflecting lights. I thought at first I had something, but after 4 subsequent photos, I realized they were clouds. :(

I live in Georgia, we don't ever get to see things like this. :(
This is rarer than snow!
I wonder if it has ever been big enough to see from here?
