One of the smaller, "practice logs" I got from the golf course last weekend.

Next I'll get the grinder on it, then the sander.

First chainsaw carving.

Sadly, I also have some work to do tomorrow also. Hopefully I can knock it off fast, and weather wont' be as bad as predicted.

I'll take it!

Great Job!

Hey that's great! Way better than I'd do on my first, second or 10th attempt. :)

Disappointed, there was not a single drop of blood loss. I reported the video for content to youtube.

I bet all the golfers appreciated you making the par 5 dog leg into an easier par 3 straight shot.

Great job on the bunny rabbit! :)

Yes, I was looking for red accents too. And hey, it kept him out of the house for the afternoon.
(Nice work, actually.)

I bet you're going to be the most popular man on the block, if you aren't already. I'm sure the neighbors will send you letters complaining about complimenting your new hobby : )

Seriously though, nice job on your first attempt!

Great job bet you neighbors love that you've taken up a new hobby. I was waiting for the leatherface chainsaw swinging finale, oh well maybe on the second attempt

I was going to suggest that you try to convince your wife to let you turn all of your trees into living totem poles, but I didn't think she would appreciate me putting ideas in your head : ) But if she likes them, well, good luck convincing her about the totems : )

Better that than somebody ELSE's leg, surely? Imagine poor Missus Slippy if Slippy gets slipshod while she's in the vicinity...

I'm sort of planning on buying some 'chainsaw chaps'. I found some for $80, but they're like pants, and would probably make me sweat my cojones off. This could be the excuse I've always been looking for to buy some proper cowboy or motorcycle chaps.

I was in a Toronto shop with my wife, which had a section full of used cowboy/motorcycle chaps. A guy was helping me out, but my wife took off, so I felt hurried and left without buying anything. She said it was a shop catering to homosexual fetishes. But I don't see what's wrong with that. I just want some chaps.

:)

I actually saw one of the speed carving guys at our county fair in August that travels with the Stihl tour-

I don't remember if this is the guy who did the carving or not. It's pretty crazy what folks are able to accomplish if they work at it. He could carve a bear faster than the length of the song Cotton Eye Joe, which is somewhere around 3 minutes I think.

Somewhat better than sawing them off.

I think you'd look great if you completed the look with a leather waistcoat and handlebar mustache.

You, sir, are a bad boy! With puns like that....
and to Nibbles who suggests that if strikeslip buys his wife a diamond she will let him do anything,
watch it, this guy is a geologist. If his wife wants a diamond, he'll dig a hole and find her one.
