Got a PM from yakatme asking if I had any good photography stories to tell and if I wanted to meet up in some forgotten corner out West for a photo safari.

Hopefully, he and I will be able to work out details for a GTG. It will be a blast to meet up with a fellow DPCer again. Its been a long while since my last time.

I've been writing a photo safari story for a sick friend about driving over Utah's Smokey Mountain Road.

Though Nevada's lonesome highway 50 makes the claim; Utah's Smokey Mountain Road is really the loneliest road in the United States.

The story about it is supposed to be entertaining and informative.

That may be overstating the case, but if you wanna judge for yourself the first three installments are found here:

Steve, love your posts.
If you've ever got any other quests stewing in your head, I'd love to be included. I drive this A lifted Tacoma with locking diff, 32" tires, a winch, and the willingness to go there which defies most :)
Give me a heads up and I may be able to come along.

Thanks, folks, for your kind remarks.

spiritualspatula...
Your rig is VERY well suited for Smokey Mountain Road and it's even more infamous tributary - Left Hand Collet Road - that drops down off the Kapairowits to the justly famous Hole-in-the-Rock Road.

A favorite photography site of mine is just up from you over the border in Wyoming. Its called "The Red Desert". It has a fabulous set of badlands called "Adobe Town".

That would be a fun place to meet up for a photo safari. I wanna do a winter safari there when it is really cold and blizzardy!

Great posts Steve. It's good to see you in the forums here again.

I would definitely like to join you for some 'in the middle of nowhere and away from civilization' photography for a week or so sometime. Having just returned from a ten day trip to Oregon and Washington that included five days with Marc Adamus, I am really looking forward to the next photo trip. I just don't know where or when yet. I might be going to Ireland in a couple of weeks and then Tahiti and New Zealand in March, but both of those are up in the air right now.

I'll followup our PM when I have a chance to give some more thought to your questions and ideas.
