Blogging is great for businesses: it's a form of marketing, it helps name recognition, the long-tail SEO benefits drive more traffic, and it can position you as an industry expert and trusted leader. For photographers, my favorite blogs are those that teach the reader something. When I was in the early learning stages of photography, reading the blogs of established photographers was gold.

I decided that I wanted to give back the same way so I just recently launched a blog on my business website. My first real post is about the methodology behind getting the realtor headshot and environmental portrait that I posted in the individual photo forum. I'd love any feedback you can give me on this first post and the blog in general.

Thank you for looking.

Great blog, IMO! I really appreciated the detail in the making of the two portraits. I look forward to your future posts.

The portrait against the wall with the words is fantastic.

The marketplace in getting very complicated for the new business owners and if you truly wish to get success, will definitely have to find out right ways to connect to your potential audience. Well, we are using the app to receive and send sms to slack. It is such a helpful way that allows our customers too to send us queries and suggestions in a quick manner.

Ok -- this may be yet another post resurrection by a zombie made of spam (ok, that didn't really work, but you get the idea...)

But it brings up a good question:

I have never created a blog. I'd really like to do it for work, to keep track of all the things I'm seeing/learning. But it can't be public, because it has behind the scenes footage that hasn't been approved yet.

Where do I start? How do I blog, and what site allows me to password protect it? (or at least doesn't make it public)

thanks!

You can write drafts on any blogger platform, and simply not publish them until you're ready. If you have a website, that would be the most logical place to host your blog.
