As some of you may know, I'm a product development engineer. I've worked on new cars, home appliances, surgical tools, fluid handling equipment and all manner of engineered products. Recently, I've come up with a concept based on a project I did in my Optical System Design class for some macro lighting hardware. Before I take the concept further, I need input from photographers who do macro work about what gear they currently use. If you do macro, I'd appreciate your input on my survey.

Thanks

Did you want subject to focal plane distance or subject to front element?

Can we see the results when they're done?

Just finished doing it.

I completed it as best I could, but I'm not sure how helpful the answers will be. I think the questions requiring a numeric answer would have been better if it had been possible to enter a range rather than a single number.

Possibly. I'm still learning about making the surveys. At this early stage, a reasonable estimate will do just fine.

Thanks.

Working distance is the distance from the surface of the front lens element to the subject.

Yes, but clearly not all are familiar with that specific definition of the term
