Why so many and why are they still taking up a slot in the standings? Looking through the Free Study results there are a ton of them "removed".

I thought somebody had said it had to do with ties.... but there is a three way tie with 54th place... same exact score.

They represent ties. Look at the two images before and see two with identical scores and placings. If it goes 26, 26 there can't be a 27, so they put that in.

I had the same confusion based on the wording. "This image has been removed" milseads us because no image has been removed. Maybe sometime the words could be replaced with "Placeholder because of tied scores" or something equally accurate.

you mean a glitch in the system?

Disregard the logical explanations. There's a conspiracy in there somewhere! We just need to dig a little deeper (a decimal or two should do it).

Support this on getsatisfaction and maybe when Langdon has more time......

Correct. It just started happening a few months ago. It makes no sense to reserve a space after a tie. Think about it. If two photos tie for 7th place, the next photo is 9th place and it's in the 9th position. There's no reason to leave a blank. It's sad that people are trying so hard to justify a mistake.

One should never justify a mistake. (It should be centered on the page.)

I guess that came out wrong when I said it. I know it's a bug. I didn't mean to be "justifying" it. I was just trying to describe the situation where it shows up. For "they put that in there" read "the system puts that in there." Better?

So what would happen if in a challenge the 3 top scores ALL get the same exact score? Would the front page show three blues? Would the Challenge Details page show "image removed" for 2nd and 3rd?

I know that it is next to impossible to happen but I wonder how it would be handled if it did.
