I think some people are PMing each other and see the reactions if people get low votes after high votes of shez's challenge... well, let me tell you the results: High votes make people happy, low votes wanna come over and kick your ass... how about that shmo?

I've always figured there were a few folks that would drop a few 1 bombs and then watch the fun in the score thread.

Nope... got some people drinking their lunch today and handing out 3s.... scum.

Mundane score for my mundane shot of a mundane subject with a mundane title. Right on target.

I just can not believe I am miscalculation my photos that much... I just can't believe I don't really know photography that much... it hurts and incredibly discouraging...

...might be my very last challenge... maybe one more, but getting extremely close to just giving up from this website totally, for good this time :(

29 votes, and at 5.5 now.
06/13/2012 01:50:57 PM · #57
Aw...don't let it get to you so much....I have been having the same thoughts lately but then I just put it down to the fact that some voters just don't have a clue really :)

Now at 5.6 after 26 votes. I was at 6.3 after 16 votes so the last 10 voters have been steadily dropping me.

Could it not be that some photographers didn't have a clue when shooting for this challenge? It's just as likely, is it not?

Of course,definitely.
And those same photographers are maybe the one's who don't have a clue when it comes to voting on this challenge either. :)

Ps. URGGHHHH!!!! Now at 29 votes and dropped even more....down to 5.4 now. It's bizarre really how after hanging steady at 6.3 from the start up to 16 votes the rot has started setting in since then.

There's the subjectivity I love from people in response to reactions about their work. It can't be me, it has to be everyone else.

Not everyone... just the morons handing out sub-4 votes...

Yes everyone has their own scale.
Yes some goobers may vote 1s and 10s.
Blah blah blah.

Most don't.

So for someone to look at a photo that is good and meets the challenge and then gives it a 3 it asinine. If they don't like it on its concept or subject, give it a 5. But lowballing is stupid and immature.

I should (objectively for this site) be about 1 point higher right now.

Pulling pretty consistently in the mid to high 4's now. As much as I think I nailed an interesting shot, if that many people think it is a poor effort, then it must be so.

Another case of not reading the details and just shooting mundane? Maybe a handful that tweaked my interest.

Details: Take something ordinary and make it look extraordinary.

Adj.extraordinary - beyond what is ordinary or usual; highly unusual or exceptional or remarkable;

Stats: You have rated 132 of 132 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.1061.

You guys need to stop stressing over scores and just have fun. It's much more enjoyable once you adopt that mindset.

Then why have scores and why try at all?

What awful advice.

Just jumped from a 4.62 to a 4.84, so someone likes it. Maybe I'll manage to pull off another vote distribution with a dip in the 5's.

This was my lowest voting average since I've been a member here. I personally believe this was the worst cast of entries for a challenge in the past four months.

Ad hominem attacks because you don't agree with the vote, glad to see we're evolving.

Highlighted the portions which are subjective. Hopefully you can acknowledge everyone's definition of a good photo will be different; the same for making the mundane look extraordinary.

I actually disagree with the prevailing sentiment. It is extremely difficult making something mundane into something interesting. While i didnt see too many extraordinary images, I expected to be bored stiff looking at the challenge. I think, overall, people took many interesting photos of many dull things. Or at least tried to change it up a bit.

It's one of the more difficult challenges, and I admire those who valiently tried.

That's about my view on it as well. Extremely difficult challenge IMO.

A mundane score to match my mundaneness. Sort of a backhanded insult. A six by any other name smells as sweet.

Wow! Glad I wasn't watching that collapse. Must be another crappy photo of mine.

My score is so bad, I feel like the Barack Obama of photography.
