We're about to move our systems over a new server. The IP address will be the same, so there shouldn't be any DNS problems.

The site will be down for a bit.

And we're back up. Let us know of any problems please.

Cool, seems a bit fast to me. :-D The profiles page certainly seems faster.

Nice to see our DPC tax dollars being well spent. ;-)

I have entered quite a few challenges, but for some reason it's not letting me enter any photos right now into the botany challenge. I have tried to submit it more than once. I even tried submitting another photo I have that is already downloaded onto the site. It keeps saying:

Unknown error type in line 96: [2] chmod(): No such file or directory
Unknown error type in line 157: [2] Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/dpc/www.dpchallenge.com/include/funcs_error.php:53)

Image uploads aren't working right.
I just uploaded an image and get this error message:

Unknown error type in line 205: [2] filesize(): Stat failed for /home/dpc/images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/19708/orig/97588.jpg (errno=2 - No such file or directory)

Your request has caused an internal error. The administrators have been notified of this error. Please try again later.

The image placeholder shows in my portfolio, but the image is not there.

Hmmm...
An oddity has developed, but seems to be affecting only the PC at home.
Not all the thumbnails display on any given page, and seem to be limited to this site. (All graphics show up anywhere else I browse on the net)
For example, on the home page, scalvert 2nd Place Athlete's Foot thumbnail will not display no matter what. My profile page only shows my highest rated image, file names for the next 2 highest rated images (no thumbs), 3 of the last 5 recent additions to my portfolio show no thumbnail, just hypertext link of a filename.
Really odd.

Running a P4 PC, Win2K Professional, was using IE6, just installed Firefox to see if the problem would go away and it does the same thing. Dump cache, Reload, makes no difference.

Weird behavior.

Brad, are you running any kind of "ad blocker" (or similar type software) at home that is acting as a "proxy"?

Sometimes, thumbnails will be generated at dimensions that are the same as common "web advertisements", so any type of program that blocks images based on dimensions will make DPC thumbnails "disappear". The solution is to add "www.dpchallenge.com" and "images.dpchallenge.com" to the "permitted" list.

That's the only thing I can think it might be...

Hey Brad, I'm having exactly the same problem too! It doesn't bother me all that much but it can be a little annoying I know! Eddy you might be on to something there... tho I'm not quite sure how to sort it. However I'm always keen to experiment so I'll give it a whirl.

You need to enable external image loading.

In Firefox, go to Tools...Options...Web Features...and make sure the "load images for originating website only" is unchecked. This should fix it.

I just updated my anti-virus and firewall software today by installing Norton Internet Security 2004, and now I am having the problem with some of the thumbnail images (along with their links to the 'real' images) not being displayed. I get around this by turning off ad blocking. Like a lot of software, Norton's help is not as helpful as one would like; it explains how to add character strings to the 'block' list but does not really explain how to remove them or not to block anything from a given site. Does anybody have an idea what I need to do? In the meantime I will see if I can figure it out from the help. Also, in a partially related matter, but unrelated to DPC, for some reason my browser (IE 6.0) has for the past few weeks, simply refused to display the source HTML on ANY web page being displayed. I can find nothing in their help concerning this and have tried just about every one of their settings but to no avail. Anybody know what I may need to do here (download anf install the latest version of the browser?). Thank you in advance for your help.

Sometimes, the problem with not being able to view source of a web page (from IE) can crop up when you have a very large temporary Internet files folder, another symptom is when you right click an image to save it disk the save as dialoge will only allow .bmp extension. just clear your temp files ( Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Delete Files) and the problem goes away :)

In order to fix the Norton problem, try adding the image's domain location to your trusted sites. I'm assuming Norton has trusted sites. I personally run a free anti-virus called Avast. www.avast.com

Well, cleaning out my temporary internet files folder solved my problem with not being able to view the HTML source code. I don't know what the heck was in those files, but whatever it was they were huge, taking about 10 minutes to delete.

Thank you for your help.
