Thanks. That's a big list so I put it in my watch list to come back to periodically.

I particularly like this one Skip, both the photography and the website. Not many women in your list! :) Thanks for sharing

Ha, just yanking your chain Skip. :)
I went to a lecture by Marc Hauser when I lived in Chicago (about the same time I joined DPC). He was a really interesting guy.
ETA. Let me add one of my favourites Susan Burnstine

so that you can use a remote trigger?
here's another woman who has been a true inspiration to me. kim raff. i first encountered when a series she worked on won first place in the Virginia Press Association annual competition; it showed me that no matter where you live, there is always something to photograph.

adam ewing. this guy is an absolute monster. he doesn't show up with a camera. he shows up with a mack truck (ok, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement). but he does show up with a large truck, completely outfitted with just about everything possible, including 20x20 foot scrims and the people to assemble and manage them. and he delivers. i can't begin to imagine what his day rates are, but judging from his client list and the works produced, i don't think they mind paying whatever's he's asking.
dean hoffmeyer is the quintessential photojournalist. the things that have struck me the most about his work are his incredible sense of the image (in terms of color, composition, and moment), and his ability to connect with his subjects. even when photographing people in the worst of life situations, he is able come away with honest, intimate images without anyone looking uncomfortable or troubled by his presence. |

Thanks Skip. That was very considerate of you to share that information with us. I'll be checking these folks out one by one in the near future.
I do hope you give careful consideration to placing Tanguera on your list. I hope you'll agree that she deserves to be there. |
