So.. time for the mandatory challenge outtake thread.

Here's one of mine; I decided it was a bit too stereotypical and chose a more abstract photo.

Anyone else care to share?

Well, I wasn't even going to submit and then I took one this evening, so I don't have any outakes other than variations on my entry. :( Good luck everyone!

All my outtakes are basically versions of my submission.
Wahhh....

Visi: that's a neat looking sign...

I live in a rural area, and the nearest town only had one colourful neon sign, and a couple of crappy ones..

Because I didn't feel like travelling further afield I've only got photos of one sign as well, but I can tell you my outtakes involved neon, and I used a digital camera... Does that help any? :-).

Cheers, Me.

I don't usually post alternatives, but I had a hard time choosing this challenge so I'm posting the shot I did not enter (no relationship to the one I did).

There is actually no border on this shot. It was taken through a window at night and the dark outline is the outside of the building. Since this was an open challenge, I had a hard time lightening up the inside without overbrightening the neon light in the window.

Here's mine. I wasn't sure if I should submit it or not. Thought it might be a little too close to just taking a picture of a poster, even though I left the black light tube on top.

Here's mine. My boyfriend liked the one I submitted (unrelated subject) a lot better, and I followed his advice. It's doing ok... 5.3ish so far. I'm officially clueless at predicting how a photo will do before I submit so I still don't know if he was right or not. Maybe I should have gone with this.

Here's mine. I was experimenting with the "zooming while shutter is open" technique. I'm afraid this is a going to be a tough week with the one I actually submitted (WWIT?????) Comments are always appreciated....

My internet connection was down yesterday evening and I woke up too late this morning to submit:-(((((

So, this is the one I should have in, but I am out of the game for this time
That's life.....

Probably should have submitted this one instead.

I was afraid people might not think her blouse is neon enough. Submitted is only at 4.5, but I'm kinda surprised its that high.

I wanted to submit this one, my lady friend didn't care for it, so I thought with all the lady members, I do something different.

I waited until the last minute to get a picture for the Neon challenge and so chose this restaurant around the corner from where I live. I had to wait around an hour and a half until the parking lot would empty to get a clear shot of the front and then ran home to process it. On the way home I wasn't paying attention where I was walking and walked right into a sprinkler system that was misaimed and my camera got a shower (but it seems to be ok) Tried to get this entry in by the deadline and missed it by seconds, but I sure glad I didn't make it because I'm sure this would have scored very low. I think it stinks.

I think you made the right choice.

I like the shot a lot, but think it could use some improvement with the lighting (too dark) and the color saturation/brightness. Those hubcaps should be bright white, no? Contrast would have looked very sharp with the pitch black background, and I like the way the top of the car is cut off on the left.

Why didn't you submit it, I think it would have done well? Nice saturated colors with no bleeding.

This is my outtake. A VERY subtle sense of neon. I really just loved the shadow of her shoe. :)

I thought about this one, and entered a bad one!

What do you think of it?

Barely, but there is neon color. Especially at the bottom front of his jaw. In fact, this is more neon than a few that did enter.
