I try to commit to an average of a dozen entries in any 30 Day side challenge. I don't always make it, but it's a reasonable goal. And I like the circular reasoning of blaming my drinking on my failure to achieve goals and vice-versa. ;-)
I expect many, MANY entries from bspurgeon and his iPhone, albeit most will be dupes. :P
This should be fun - can we create a running list of ideas for the lenses & filters?
Examples:
Lensbaby
UV filter with vaseline
Custom bokeh cutout mask
Shoot through shower door
Shoot through glass block
others?

Vaseline on blister pack plastic if people don't want to mess up UV filters
Glassware of any kind that you can shoot through
Ice - I've heard you can make filters by boiling water till it has no oxygen and then making ice in a concave glass bottom. I'm going to try it. (Is water still water if it has no oxygen?)

:) There's a difference between molecular oxygen and dissolved oxygen....
If you want to try this be sure to use a VERY smooth and clean glass, don't boil the water, that won't help - you need pure water, boiling only kills stuff, and actually just concentrates impurities. Go buy some triple-distilled water if you can find it, or at the very least distilled (not filtered) water.
The final key is to freeze it slowly, a freezer at 30 degrees is your friend, as a colder environment is likely to cause random nucleation, and subsequently opaque ice.

When they make block ice at ice houses, they bubble air through the water as it is cooling to near freezing. The rising larger bubbles entrain the small bubbles and take them to the surface, making the ice blocks clear. |
