Had a little accident with my 500 f4 last spring. It slipped of the mount and bruised the focus ring. Still works fine except for a sticky point with manual focus. Anyway, I was thinking of getting it repaired. Does anyone have experience with United Camera for repairs.

Thanks

I wouldn't send it anywhere other than Canon.. frankly their prices and service are pretty hard to beat.

Probably a wise policy.

Note that Lensrentals.com has a great article on repairs they just put up....

It very much agrees with my experience with Canon - about $300 to fix stuff and a 6 day turn around...

You probably qualify for CPS as well, I'd consider that as it's an immediate 30% discount on repairs and priority service.

How so? I looked into that in Canada and it seems one has to be a professional photographer to avail themselves of this service and the mere mortals like me are SOL.

I have had a good experience with Canon center in NJ. My son dropped my 10-22mm and wrecked it. Canon repaired it for about $150 (including all taxes and shipping) in 4 days.

It's not a tax return.... Some creativity is advisable.
