Trees. Minimal. <3

Glad you pointed that out...I noticed the trees challenge, didn't look closely!

yeah, my thoughts exactly. Yay. First minimal editing challenge since I got my new camera. And I quite like trees.

I like the combination here. Trees are simple and minimal editing is perfect. I think this will be lot's of fun. :)

Well now where am I going to get a shot of a talking tree slaying a fire breathing dragon? This is going to be quite a challenge indeed.

I disagree. Much more fun with complex titles, but still I'm very happy to have a new minimal challenge :)

Minimal rules state "use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry, with the exception of combining multiple captures in-camera" and "restrictions on post-processing apply to ALL edits performed after the image is captured, whether on a computer or with in-camera tools".

So if my epm-1 has "art filters" I can use that add a vignette or change the color tone of an image, etc. during the capture of an image, is this legal?

anything you do has to be done BEFORE you press the shutter.

And don't forget to shoot jpeg!

Oh, I may have to try this with my new iPad... Anything I need to be careful with using an iPad under minimal editing?

Somewhat confusing answer... In-camera image processing occurs AFTER pressing shutter, even if the settings were selected beforehand ... Or am I missing something?

Make sure you use the native IOS camera app, as other apps aren't accepted for valid originals.

Yes, your phrasing is better ... all settings must be entered/set before you press the shutter. Any editing you do after pressing the shutter follows the same rules, whether you edit with the camera or a computer or any other device ...

So I CAN use the filters because I have a live preview of the image with a filter enabled before I press the shutter?

Just came back from shooting and forgot to set the camera to RAW + JPEG. Ughghgh. I'll have to head out tomorrow to the exact same location.

If you are setting some menu item to use some specialized setting(s), and all of those are applied to the original JPEG image (see previous two posts!) as captured to the card, you should be OK.

As someone who always wants more minimal challenges, the irony isn't lost on me.

Anyone know if there are "plugins" for the native ipad camera app that would apply effects in a manner legal under minimal? e.g., you set the effect, press the shutter, and the photo is taken and saved without any pp? I see a lot of non-native camera apps, but they all look like post-capture editing (and the are not acceptable for DPC originals)

I could have played... both from this past Saturday, both minimal editing eligible. :) I'm sorry to miss out on this one as trees are one of my favorite subjects.
