I'm relatively happy with my score in the Celebrations challenge, but now that the results are in I can ask the question: should I have cropped out the tree?

If it was mine I would have left the tree in just like you did.

Yup.

Though it wouldn't have changed my vote. It definitely is a distraction, but I figured it added some context, so it didn't bother me for the challenge. But for the photograph itself outside of the challenge, I think it would be better cropped.

The meaning / function of the tree requires more information than the picture provides. I'd lose it.

I'd have taken the tree out. Its just a distraction from the main subject of your photo.

Yes ,its a much better image without it.

Seems I got it wrong. That's what happens with last minute entries. But I only got the opportunity for the shot that night.
