| Nobody has started a thread yet. So how do I do it as I am not in France yet?? Where do I find guys wearing bérets and smoking heavy cigarettes? What about medieval streets? Markets? Stone passages? Snow? Hounds? ;) |

There are still some people wearing berets in Quebec City and up till the time I quit I rather enjoyed "Gitanes". The majority of the other items you mention are also available there.
... mind you probably shorter to travel to France for you.
You probably would not care for the temperature either... yesterday with the wind chill it was -36C, a bit cool for most Aussies. :O)

I am going to Whistler soon so I will experience the cold (as long as I can ski I don't mind!) Too far to Quebec though ;)

I'm just going to photograph a print I have on the wall and superimpose a really old man with a stoop and black jacket, and yeah see how it goes down - grin!!! |

| Jagar's style is so much more than locale. He would be able to make terrific images in the place you live right now. Put your thinking berets on... wwjs? |

I will make a good faith effort at this challenge because I respect the man very much.
However, it will be challenging to emulate his setting. When Jagar's medieval streets were created and first populated, Lewis and Clark were not yet born and the Utes (native Americans) were the nomadic inhabitants of the area. Still... I'll give it a go. |

It's his processing that's so spectacular. You don't even realize that it's processed. But I bet my shots wouldn't look like that out of camera. :)
The tonal range and quality are superb! |

All of Johns images tell interesting stories. Often I will look at his pictures, and little elements will jump out filling the pages of the story. His images, while looking somewhat simple, are very complex.
To me, his composition ability is what makes his images shine.
