So Aidan, Rowan and I will be leaving Aimee behind this spring break to head to Rochester and Cicero to visit grandparents. We will only be in the state from Sunday night(March 31st) to Saturday morning (April 6th). I figured I would put out some feelers to see if anyone was interested and available to hook up a day or two and do some shooting. It's been a while since I have connected with any DPC'ers in real life. And really it's been a while since I have used any camera other than my iPhone. Any takers?

Cicero is about 2 hours from me (Schenectady)...could work! That's a busy time for me though (both work and family)...but it would be fun. I'm going to look around the web for some good locations there, or maybe a little bit east of there (30 minutes east would be about perfect). You might have a look at NYFalls.com, it's a pretty good resource (and I wish I had thought of it first...the person that runs that has a gold mine for selling his own work). But it's also a good resource to find scenics in the area.

When you are in Rochester, you might want to visit here:

My timing stinks... I live in Rochester but will be heading south (Ft. Lauderdale) for the break.

OK - gonna start bumping this thread up throughout the week. I need to let my mother in law know where I am going to and when as soon as I can. Anyone interested in getting together somewhere within a couple of hours of Cicero or Rochester the week of Spring break (March 31-April 6)?

Tim - I don't live in Syracuse anymore but I thought I'd pass along a couple of ideas for you. You might try Green Lakes State Park near Fayetteville which has two small lakes with a very easy walking path around them (about a 3 mile walk) (the park is about 25 minutes from Cicero). There are plenty of deer in the park and relatively easy to find in the mornings and evenings. In the winter you can only access the park from the Route 290 entrance. This entrance is right across from the Erie Canal where there is a walking bridge crossing the canal (see photo) - there is also a path alongside the canal - also a very easy walk. Further east from the park on Route 5 is the village of Chittenango which has another State Park with a waterfall right next to the road on Route 13 south of the village towards Cazenovia (see photo of the creek below the falls that is right alongside of the road). There are stairs alongside of the falls - don't know if they would be accessible in the winter with all the snow still up there.

You might also get in touch with vikas as I see by his profile that he lives in Syracuse and might be able to give you some other ideas.

Thanks for the ideas. To be honest i don't care where I go or what I shoot. I am a dad of four kids (2 bio and 2 foster) and I am really just looking to hang out with some adults without all the kiddos in tow. The photography is just the means to my end. ;)

i'd help you out, originally being from the adirondack area myself but it seems you're too far out west for any info I could provide.... sorry dude.

My wife and I met up in the adirondacks. We went to school up at Paul Smiths just outside if saranac lake.

But again , I'm not necessarily looking for things to shoot. Just looking for people to shoot with. Looks like I'm on my own though.

Headed out to NY this afternoon. I will be in Rochester through Wednesday and then Cicero through Saturday. Shoot me a message if you are game for a gtg.
