I'm not a big ebay seller--I've sold one thing there that I recall. I thought Amazon might be a way to go for selling my older cameras and a few xrite colorcheckers I won in contests (still new).

So...what's your take on selling Amazon versus Ebay. I started to list a colorchecker on Amazon, but I had trouble navigating all the pages of mumbo jumbo (some of which never even loaded).

Can someone give me a quick rundown of the pros and cons of Amazon, and an idea what the fees are?

no idea, but its not like eBay doesn't have outrageous fees.

I also tried ebay before but not Amazon. To me both of them are good and well known so can try either.

Well, we'll see...I added my first entry to Amazon. The X-Rite Passport color checker!

It looks like costs will be ok, but I worry about navigating the treacherous waters of selling on the internet.

I'm confused. I can find one new on Amazon, with Prime two day shipping for $89. Yours would cost me over $100, and is used, perhaps it will sell better if you're under the new price?

Never tried Amazon as no need.

How is that? I set the price to $80, $5 below the lowest price. Of course, it's not eligible for Prime since it's not fulfilled by Amazon.

According to the listing, it's

$80.00
+ $4.99shipping

And mine is brand new as well, still in its original shrink wrap.

The link takes you to the one fulfilled by Amazon. You need to search the listings to find yours. But, it's there at the prices you listed. People who use Amazon on a regular basis will know how to find the lowest price, but people who don't might miss it. There's really nothing you can do about it though.

That's my mistake then. I was looking at the one used listing.

In fact, you're the lowest priced listing.

I have used EBay once or twice, but without a lot of sales, people are wary of sellers without a long track record. Amazon is a bit better at standing behind an unhappy buyer, so buyers are less concerned about buying from someone without a lot of sales who might be a fly by night scammer, or just a good guy with only a few things to sell. My wife has taken to selling books (some used textbooks, some old stuff from around the house) on Amazon and has done well by it. She often gets much better prices than the local used store gives, and hashas no issues to date.

I sell a lot on Ebay. Fee's have gotten out of control though. Especially if you use Paypal for payment but it gets junk out the house.

I didn't even know a person could sell on Amazon. I will have to look into that for future sales.

I have sold some things on Amazon and considered it a huge rip off. I can't remember the exact fees but they take a percentage of the sale price AND the shipping fee that you charge and that means I either gave the stuff away or it cost me money to give it to someone. I won't do it again. I'd rather sell through eBay.

If I understand my setup there correctly, I sell something for $80 and I get $70 after a shipping rebate. Then of course, I have to pay shipping, so that leaves me with about $65, I think. That doesn't sound too bad...is ebay better?

I'm interested in selling on Amazon only because Ebay seems to me to have gotten too complicated. I hope Amazon is easier.

There's always Creepslist...err...Craigslist.

I like Craigslist. I always meet in a busy parking lot and I keep ALL the money.

Nobody ever got robbed in a parking lot, did they? Statistically, you won't get in a car wreck either, but I bet you still wear a seat belt.

I'd ask them to meet me at the police station. People scamming and robbing people on Craigslist is so bad the police call it "Robbery by Appointment".

Not bad...sold one already, and today received an inquiry. The prices of the base unit and seemingly all the other prices are up, so I'm almost 20% below the other prices (since mine has not changed). Perhaps the second will sell quickly and I can try my D7000 there.

The first buyer's address was a PO box in the US. I presume that's because the person is rural, though it's crossed my mind that they could be a scammer and their payment could "bounce", in which case Amazon would get no funds and my unit has already shipped. In that case, it's a $80 item and then it becomes a lesson in how Amazon deals with that.

I've been buying and selling on ebay for 14 years, even have a little business going. Up front costs have come down, and the feedback system shows the experience and honesty for sellers and buyers. Once you register and list your first item or two, it does get easier after that. Does Amazon show buyers' experience, or just seller?
