Does anyone know if these batteries are the same thing. The Canon 7D has a LP-E6 battery (but a LC-E6 charger !). Looking for share batteries they all come up as LC-E6 (except for canon). I don't know if these are the same battery or whether there is a difference. Anyone know ?

From what I can tell LC-E6 is the designation for the charger. LP-E6 is the designation for the battery.
Two different items.

Eta: if you're looking for spare batteries, Canon vs third party/generic brand batteries, some commenters on the various forums mentioned that the Canon batteries are chipped where they communicate with the camera regarding battery power left. The generic batteries supposedly are not chipped, therefore the camera can't display how much battery life is left.

Another issue mentioned is the generic batteries cannot be charged by the Canon charger, so you'll need to buy a separate charger for the generic batteries.

One last thing mentioned in those forums that struck me was is it worth saving $25 ($35 generic v $60 Canon) to use on your $1500 camera?

Of course this is what I gleaned from the Internet...

Correct. My Canon 7D came with both. It would be nice to have a second charger so I can recharge both my LP-E6 at once since I use the OEM battery grip.

LC-E6 Charger for LP-E6 battery
