Make a political statement. Show your support for the Second Amendment (usa); Perhaps a commentary on the ridiculousness of it all...

Huh? Seriously?

You do realize not everyone will post a picture expressing the same point of view ...

Sorry, but not a good idea for a challenge. Seriously. Just my opinion. But really not a good idea.

Maybe we could put the whole challenge into Rant.

People need to eat. :)

The feedback thus far suggests to me that it would be a popular challenge.

Still like this one too. :)

I like it.....

if you just keep the title "Guns" and the description as "N/A", i think that would allow a variety of interpretations and expressions.

i am a gun owner myself, but there is the "dark side" of illegal and improper gun use that could be explored...

not much different from what we see on TV or the big screen, so why would it be controversial? (smirk!)

I like the challenge topic, I've entered quite a few pics with guns in them. But I agree that describing the topic as "show support for the 2nd amendment" is not a good approach. I would look forward to seeing both sides of the argument.

No Officer, I can't describe the suspect ...

It's not how big your gun is, it's what you do with it.

Nah, that's just what the ones with small caliber firearms say... ;)

In all fairness, I think that's what the OP meant with "Perhaps a commentary on the ridiculousness of it all...". Express a counterpoint to supporting the Second Ammendment. At least that was the way I took it.

Although the challenge might be interesting, the voting will be way too politically charged to have any type of fairness to it. Might be some interesting voting patterns though, many pictures with votes in the range of 1-3 and 8-10, with little to no middle ground. Of course, it is also completely US centric, so I am not sure how well it will be received to the non US members.

If it is a challenge, it should be Expert Editing. I want to see Gyaban's take on Robin Williams line "It's in the constitution, you have the right to bear arms, or the right to arm bears...".

I think he just did that one. ;)

Probably wouldn't be much of a challenge for him.

Adam, the nature of this forum suggest to me that there are likely to be a higher percentage of members here who are liberal.

I'm in the middle ground myself. I am conservative about some things and liberal about others. I see truths in the arguments that both sides present in the gun debate.

Unless you want to restrict the entries to only those who "believe in the Second Amendment" (with the same imterpretation you do) that part is totally unnecessary to the challenge description. I think the earlier suggestion of
Topic: Guns

Description: N/A
was fine. I think you'd get a lot of pictures of finely-crafted machinery ...

In fact, it's such a good suggestion I've put it into the pool of available challenge topics that way ... but SC members have no control or knowledge of when or if any particular challenge gets scheduled ... :-)
