So I've seen references to lucis Arts (now lucis pro). I remember seeing a particular setting, or something that really intrigued me. Years ago, and I have no recollection what picture, effect, etc.

But I kept looking at the price, and it was exceedingly expensive.

Just saw a photo of Art's in the photo domino game, and he mentioned it, so I looked it up.

If you are on a mac, and are running an older version of photoshop, you can get the Mac Lucis Pro software for $25. (the windows version is $295).

This is because it doesn't work on photoshop 6. But since there's a lot of people still using old photoshop, I thought I'd post it here.

I used the Lucis Arts original version for "forever" and loved it.
It got lost in transit between two computers.

I've not been able to afford the new version for years, but... I bought it today.

Does anyone else have it who used to use it with the different filters... Whyeth... Plaid... etc?

I can't get the results that I used to love with it. I can't remember the filter I used... but I used it on this (and many other entries):

I have a 30 day money back guarantee... At $195, I want to love it. And... I don't.

HELP? Please?

$195.00, actually. And people who have a valid Lucis Arts 3.0 can upgrade for $65.00

I had a valid "original Lucis Arts". I contacted the seller... and there's no upgrade from that. Ya gotta do the whole $195.

I'm gonna play with it some more and see if I can find my Happy again. LOL!

I've been dragging my $25 version around over my last 3 macs. Don't use it as much these days but still love it on occasion. It was for this reason that I still run CS5 in 16 bit mode.

I find I'm using LR and Color EFX Pro a lot more now.

Lydia, I don't know about you, but the filter I used to get that look of clarity was Whyeth. Looks like I used it in most of the images in this collection:

Slice of Life

I didn't much like the other filters, too gimicky (plaid!), but I used to use Whyeth all the time until I found Nik Efex. Now I would never go back :-)

If I'm not mistaken, Alicia Keenon used to use one of the Lucis Arts filters to get the clarity then flatten it out with Perfectum. Looking at some of her images she mentions using Lucis Arts Exposure.

Personally, I'd go for the Nik Efex Suite now, you can get the whole thing for a song now that it is sold by Google and it is chock full of useful filters!

Thanks, Colleen! I'm going to check into that before my return period expires. I played with Lucis more last night and found it to be almost what I'm used to... ya just have to do it in a different way.

So many useful plugins for only $150! Viveza is great to play with lighting, Define (denoise) generally does a good job (although for some things I prefer Topaz Denoise), Sharpener works pretty well, Silver Efex gives wonderful control over B&W conversion, Color Efex has both standard image control filters and fun effects, then Analog is a real kick if you like textures and such. Only thing I don't use much is HDR Efex, don't need it with the dynamic range I get in one exposure from the D800E :-)
