My wife and I are heading to Charleston and Myrtle beach for a week, starting on Saturday. For those in the know, what are my must sees and dos in Charleston? We'll be in Charleston for three days.

We're looking at going to the Magnolia Plantation & Gardens and doing the swamp walk, but some of the reviews make the place sound absolutely dreadful. Of course, others claim it's the most beautiful place on earth. Has anyone been? Feedback?

I've been to Middleton Plantation there I can vouch for that...it was $25 to get in and $10 for the house tour...we really raised our eyebrows at that price but paid it and had a wonderful time....ck on their calender and see the "What's in Bloom" assuming they have that list. If the Azalea's are in (might be a little to late....they have what is called "Azalea Hill" that has 30K Azalea Plants on it

on the other side (opposite of the Azalea Hill)

This is the Pon Pon Church...not to far from Charleston...kind of interesting.

In Downtown Charleston they have carriage rides...there are 4/5 routes that they will take you through the city but you don't know which route you will get until you go to the "gate" at the gate they assign the route...highly recommend this.

Any tours of the Historical Home is well worth it...

this Church is in Charleston...it's a goal of mine to go there to photograph

Unitarian Church

During April (but I think in the beginning of April) is the Historic Home & Garden Tours...also well worth doing. We did a evening/night walk...very interesting.

There are all kinds of things in that area

Places to eat for sure!!!

Hominy Grill (breakfast...have to have the Bloody Mary)
Hyman's Seafood - originally a seafood warehouse for the area that decided to open his own place...very good.
39 Rue de Jean - French Food - a little pricey but well worth it!!

Thanks! I'm going to have to check out the churches. We looked at Middleton, but decided on Magnolia for the swamp garden. I'm hoping it'll have a good bit of wildlife. I'll take a look at those restaurants, too.
