The pricing is actually pretty attractive. Still a little more expensive (about +20%) in the long run than using two rotating hard drives and keeping one off site (swapping them, say, weekly) but has other advantages, like:
- Elimination of the 1-week "at risk" period between swaps of the off-site and on-site backup drives
- Time savings through automation
- Accessibility of data
They do say, right up front, that the service is optimized for infrequent access. Anyone know how long it actually takes to retrieve files, on average?

Works like an old tape backup system, where you have to initiate a "retrieval job" and wait about 4 hours for completion. Does not sound very conducive to moving files about at will, and there are substantial retrieval fees which may not be so simple to avoid (they are calculated on your "peak retrieval rate" which is broken down to the hour, but then applies to the entire month (!). Overall, a solution that fits better for off-site backups of huge amounts of business-critical data that are rarely retrieved. Not a general cloud storage solution. IMO, of course.
