In the contre Joure challenge, four 1s I either have either ruffled a few feathers or somebody don't like me. I still Feel it was an all right photo

unbelievable...and just plain wrong. I will never understand those who hand out 1's. To me a 1 means that the image has no technical merit, does not meet the challenge, AND (not or) is unappealing. Your image fit the challenge, was well executed, and very appealing.

Yours was one of my favorites in the challenge... I am confused myself LOL!

I think it's a decent pic, certainly not 1-worthy. (My only nitpick would be the tips of the ears being cropped, but that's very minor). Personally I suspect one person with 4 ghost accounts. It's certainly happened before.

It was probably the title. You essentially dared people to give you a one and four people obliged.

FWIW - I gave you a 6, due to rounding up. While it's not quite a full 6-level photo, I'd say its better than the 5.3 you got. The focus is a bit soft, but that actually contributes to the photo in a way, I think. Others may not have appreciated the softness.

This, plus some people just don't like cats, so I suspect they asserted their control. I've learned, don't dare folks here to/not to do something unless you're prepared to deal with the consequences. It's a nice shot, but I question the 9's and 10 as much as the 1. I too think it's a little soft, a little too centered compositionally, but not to the point of it being worth a comment to correct it as it seems a style choice. Had you titled it differently I think you would have seen a nice bell curve between 5 & 6.

i'd say it has the most to do with people thinking they're funny by saying "okay, i'll type 10.... 1...oh, look, a new picture, now i'll finish the ten and press 0 on this image"

Your photo was also one of my favorites. Voting is so crazy, you can never tell the whats and whys of what people are thinking.

Isn't 1 the keyboard shortcut for 10?

More seriously, titles like that are usually from people going for the brown. People may have been obliging.

I think they could be DNMC votes. Look at the background of the winners and your image. Your image does not have a strong, singular, lighting source and the main subject appears to have as much or more light than the background.

I agree with this.

Despite that, I really liked your image and gave you an 8.

as the only 10 vote, let me give my 2 cents on why you got 4 1's. while this cat guy found your title awful, it TOLD ME to vote 10! normally, if a title "begs" I will be in the group that gives it a protest vote of 1. this time I decided to go the other way. sorry, I know a 1 is a no-no for some here, but I can list several reasons why a "1-vote" is appropriate, and none of them are listed by those that have some kind of rigid "code" for such things.
