New Members of Site Council
It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of two long-standing DPC members to the ranks of SC. Both of them are accomplished photographers and respected members of the community.
Help us in congratulating  Tanguera and  Paul, and wish them well!
Textures Now Allowed in Advanced Editing
We have loosened up the rules in Advanced Editing to allow the use of texture layers:
>> "You may: use images that do not meet the source or date requirements as textures in your entry if they function specifically as textures and not to circumvent other rules."
This helps to bring our rules in alignment with the way many people are actually creating images these days, particularly those who use their iPhones and Androids for photography.
Improvement in Functionality on Mobile Devices
A long-time complaint has been how it's nearly impossible to navigate the DPC menus on phones and tablets. We've made a slight adjustment to the DPC menus so that on touch-based devices, you can now click to drop them down. It's not perfect, because they're still tiny, but it's a step in the right direction. As a side note, detecting phones and tablets is a tricky game, so some devices may not be detected and supported correctly. |

do light leak and flare images count as texture?

I noticed my drop down menu (house Internet was struck by lightening tonight) before I saw the announcement of Johanna and Paul.
Yippeeee!! Great additions to the sc team!!!

Menus aren't working on my ipad mini, iOS 7.0.4, or my iPhone 5, 7.1.2

Hello Langdon! dang it's good to see your virtual face.
Drop in once in a while even more often, will ya?
Many congratulations (and commiserations) to Johanna and Paul.
You are welcome additions to the Site Council, which was getting understaffed and overworked in recent days.
Thank you, Langdon, for the tweaks to make tablets, etc. more easy to use with DPC.
Now, I if I could just learn to use my android correctly, I'd be up to snuff wit' the rest of youse. |

A BIG congratulations to Johanna and Paul, both of whom are fully committed to DPC going forward! SC were unanimous in approving these additions to our rolls, and we are looking forward to wporking with them after they've served out their initiations by cleaning the restrooms, trimming the boxwood hedges, polishing the silver, and trucking the ashes out of the banquet hall's walk-in fireplace :-)
On a separate note, here's a separate thread to discuss the change to the Advanced Rules. |

LOL!!!!! I have to say that it's a bit early to know whether congratulations or commiserations are in order. But I will admit to having been totally blown away by being asked. Thank you guys!!! I hope not to let you (or any other members) down, so I'll just hang out behind bear and cling to his apron for a bit...
Incidentally, once you've been given the power, all sorts of cool things appear on your screen. And we have, like, 5 more buttons in the message threads than the rest of you mere mortals average member. I have no idea what they do (yet), so I'm steering clear (for now).
Also, no one has mentioned the spiffy new font! Except Deb ( melethia) in a private thread. I didn't notice it until now, myself : |

Since I've met Tangy, and can say "I knew her when...." :)
Congrats to the new members!!!
Cool, in a way, about the textures. Not quite sure I agree with that. Even a simple one can change the feel so much, and I think it's going to be a nightmare know what does and doesn't cross the line, in the beginning. |
