Hey guys!

I have a "possible" work contract that will land me at the University Hospital in New Jersey.. I have really never been east-east before, But I have flown into Maryland and then been down south ...

I will be there on and off for about 4-5 weeks .. 8 days there, 6 days home kinda thing..

I was "hoping" to get around and to see the Atlantic ocean there for the first time and perhaps the Hudson bay if its not too far away.. I will have a rental car that they will be giving me so I will be exploring at night or after work is all done with..

Just wanted to get some feelers of what is around there, how things are, I am starting to explores some options on google just to see what that area is about and the things to see and do. I realize its close to New York too.. I don't think I will travel THAT far out..I do not care for busy cities at all..it drives me crazy if I have to drive in Chicago and I hate it, but this will be a fun adventure if I am put on this project..just wanted to do a shout out to check in with you guys first about options

Cape May in southern NJ if Victorian houses appeal to you. I know I enjoyed visiting when I lived up that way.

The place you will be coming to is not far from the NYC, statue of liberty, One World trade center, Central park etc. There are tons of things that you can see in that area. Now coming back to your Atlantic ocean part, not far from there. I travel through the hospital area everyday of course in train :)

Hudson Bay is over 1,000 miles away, as a crow flies. You will, however, be just 8.5 miles from the Hudson River.

Like Mike said, hop a train and head for NYC. If you stick to the touristy areas of the city, you should be pretty safe, even in the evenings.

I would sooo love that!!!

As far as I know I am submitted for the contract and details are being worked out , they are planning a fly out next wed/ thus and I will be there for 8 days straight then 6 days home then back 8 days going back an forth for 4-5 weeks..

I am to be working all 8 days but I am unsure of my hours worked..

I am really hoping its a 7-3 thing that way it really gives time for exploring..

I am waiting on more details myself so I will update as I know

How much would it cost to take the train there?

from down where I live, I believe its a $16 round trip and you will be much closer to the city. the train will take you to either world trade center or Madison square garden (which is closer to time square, central park, Rockefeller center, etc).

its a very short ride from Newark, maybe 15mins...

University Hospital in Newark give you great access to the trains and NYC, but not to most of what I'd consider the desirable parts of NJ to visit. Cape May, as mentioned, and the shore for the most part, are lovely and no so crowded now that the season is over.

I live near the Delaware Water Gap in the northeast corner and it's as unlike the parts you see flying into and out of Newark as you can get. It's going to require a car to get you out here, but there's a lot of great country to be seen.

NJ Transit trains will also get you south to Princeton Jct. which is a short train ride (the Dinky) to Princeton and the University if you like old architecture and history.

The unfortunate fact is driving in NJ, and in particular the part you'll be in, is hellish during rush hour, so even getting out at 3 you'd better be ready to drive outside the I-287 loop before 4 or you'll be seeing NJ from the road.

Welp, I am sooo disappointed ..Seems my NJ Trip is cancelled and they put me on a new contract to another hospital. The travel agreement fell through and never passed.. I was approved for everything else and was ready to go..

I was really looking forward to some new scapes and city scenes and meeting you guys! I am sure next time.. Seeing that side of the country has been on my bucket list for quite a while but next plan time hubby will be with me so he will be able to share the experience with me.

Thank you all for speaking up and helping me figure things out and wishing to meet up
