I know DPC has people with opinions and I value them as coming from artists and people with "an eye" for detail. We're working on refreshing the logo of our church and I thought I'd see if anybody wanted to offer their two cents when comparing two different options. Maybe there isn't a large difference. Maybe there is. Who wants to tell me which they prefer and why?

Personally I like the gray one. What does the extra G stand for in the blue one? I've always like simple more though. I think it looks more professional. I like the simplicity of it and the color scheme.

Left by far. I like the cross tie-in, how tight and nicely well thought out it feels with the tagline fitting perfectly there, as well as the colors, and on top of that the logo on the right makes me want to pin that one on a map.

I like the design on the left - it is clever and effective.
However, the grey colour is depressing.

I would like to see the design on the left using the colour gradient on the right, except I'd make the blue a little more "sky-like" and friendly.

I like them both, but for a church I'd go with option 1. It is clean and neat, and it fits together nicely.

Yup, what Karin said. Although I'm one of those people who don't mind if I see logos in different colours all the time; (Aussies, think of that Telstra fan-like logo that changes gradients every time you see it...). Change the colour dependant on it's location.

GT-RACE works for me.

A short glance at this I like the first one. BUT, what if you try to move the cross from the 'G' to the 'E' and have it go into the 'C'. It wouldn't interfere with any other letter and you could slide the 'Community Fellowship' over to the left.

Just a thought. I do like the left of the two though.

Ditto on Beetle's opinion. First glance, I'm drawn by the color of option 2.
However, I like the simple design of option 1.

Option 1 is definitely the better design, but as others say, work on the colors.

Also, I was always taught to make sure a logo would reproduce well in B&W (grays) as well as in color, so that it can be used without change in monochromatic settings (laser printer, fax, etc.). Otherwise looks good ...

Thanks for the great opinions. I knew you wouldn't let me down. I'm surprised it was so strongly favoring one of them. Our little committee was much more evenly split and nobody strongly favored one over the other.
