About a month before April essays are due. Not to late to start but the procrastination must stop.

Microscope macro essay that's kind of interesting: Daniel Kariko Essay

They made me squirm...just a little, but they were so beautiful.

I'm in. I have an April essay ready. Unlike anything I have done, and that's likely a blessed relief for all. But not like those macros; if I ever go that far, just shoot me. Perhaps it's best to shoot me anyway just as a precaution, because there's probably no low so low that I won't sooner or later stoop to it.

Get low enough, before you know it, you'll be shooting insect macros. Look forward to your essay.

You remind me of the story of this professor who was trying to figure out just how those early birds (the ones with feathers) got the worms -- sense vibrations through their feet, hear or smell them, etc. -- until one day he got down on his stomach on the dew-flecked lawn and noted, "You know, when you get down real close you can just see them crawling around."

I like some of these and like the idea of mixing street with motion and blur
//www.alexeytitarenko.com/

I plan to enter again but don't have the slightest idea what it will be. I am very hopeful though :-).

Interesting photographer. Some of his images might be multiple exposure overlays so you'll probably need a tripod to create this effect. Of course, there are many ways to capture and use blur. Look forward in seeing what direction you head. If not for April, maybe June.

2 weeks before essays are due. Tardy is fine, but you'll get more attention if you post early.

I'll be an observer this time around (unless I can find a theme in the archives). Sad not to be posting but eagerly anticipating the inputs from everybody else. This Photo Essay side challenge is one of the high points for me on DPC. I've never been very prolific in the challenge department, but do get a huge amount of enjoyment from this specific side challenge.

2 more days!

This side challenge gets very quiet between entry deadlines. I'm never sure what kind of turn out we'll get. I think we had 11 essays posted for February which was a great showing. Hope to keep this going a while longer. Enjoy!

I agree with Sarah. This is a high point on DPC.

I should be ready to post something by tomorrow.

We should make it a challenge - Remove the main object from your image...

Thanks.

April was a really big month! Comments continue to trickle in but I wanted to thank everybody involved. Expecting less than 5 essays, I was pleasantly surprised when we doubled that. And it's not just about volume, the quality of every essay was excellent.

Don posthumous once said something along these lines:

"DPC made me cry again but this time in a good way."

Thanks again to all the essayists. Hope to see y'all back for June.

Wait a second Henry!!!!! I am not done yet. Still posting the last two installments of my 5 chapters of the Oaxaca travel so that I'll start a fresh essay in June. If you guys have patience I'll post until you'll have to shut me off somehow!
I am yet to comment on the April essays that I just quickly perused. Wonderful job all!

Oh I'm not done commenting. been off line the last 4 days but will catch up at the weekend (hopefully).

I haven't even begun to lay down my comments yet, I've been looking and just letting things settle in. I have to say, for me, this has become the most meaningful part of being here at DPC. If it weren't for this essay SC, I would would probably still be poking around, but for no reason really...just out of habit. So thanks for keeping this thing going Henry, and maybe along the way more people will dip their toes in this ongoing essay thing.

I'm in for June. Unless you work as fast as posthumous it's time to get started. I think Don put his last essay together in a day.

We'll start posting June essays at the end of the month. Time to get cracking.
