The original 3rd-place image in "Umbrella III" has been DQ'd for failure to provide a valid original. A DNG file created from the RAW original is not a "valid original" in our challenges; DNG may only be used for validation if the camera actually shoots in DNG format instead a of a proprietary RAW format.

Congrats to our new ribboner and HM!

:( The worst way to get a ribbon.
I hope the original can be resubmitted if Henry can get it.

My mistake. If you give me a link I'll send the original ORF file.

It would seem that, as a newish SC, I perhaps acted a bit precipitously. Here's the chain of events:

1. Insteps won a ribbon.
2. Insteps submitted an invalid original for verification.
3. We immediately (within hours) requested an original from him.
4. After receiving no response after 72+ hours, I DQ'd the image and moved everyone up a notch.
5. As soon as that happened, insteps contacted me, surprised that it had happened. He apparently didn't realize the second request was "real", he perhaps thought it was sent in error.
6. He immediately sent us a valid original.
7. SC as a whole has voted for leniency on this, and restored the ribbon to Insteps. We feel particulalrly good about this because the "new" ribboner, cuttooth, mad it clear he didn't like getting a ribbon this way.

HOWEVER: at this point the front page shows two yellows now, and I'm pretty sure that's a glitch, so I imagine it will be fixed. I probably did something wrong there too :-( What I *should* have done in the first place is send a PM to Insteps after 48 hours saying "Hey dude, do you realize we're waiting on a valid original from you?" so I take the blame for this botchup :-)

No harm, no foul. Glad to see all is back right with the world.

Disqualify them both!

Been a while since we had a good village burning......I think they still do that at Cape Cod?

I never like to see a ribbon taken away... even if it was gotten due to a DQ.

May they please BOTH keep their ribbons?

THANKS for making this right for Insteps either way! I'm so glad that my trust in SC is well-earned and displayed in situations like this.

Go, Bear!

Ribbon-keeping for Mark ( cuttooth) is beyond the power of we lowly SC worker drones. Maybe if we all keep quiet and tiptoe around, the Big L won't notice it's happened and it will stay :-)

yes! I vote to keep the 2 yellow ribbons. And while you're handing them out, can you make it 3 and give me one too?

I don't think you can keep the two yellow ribbons... They belong to other people. But if they let you keep the yellow ribbons, can I have the red and blue? :)

Ummm....you have way too many red and blue! Though I would just like one tiny little blue ribbon! :)
