My precious German Shepherd dog was pulverized by a truck last night.

So I would love to see , just a challenge of Happy, fun dogs.

Something to bring a smile to everyone who has lost a family pet member.

Advanced or Expert editing.

There is so much fun with dogs, catching balls, in the snow, riding snow boards or surf boards, swimming underwater , kittens beating up huge hounds-etc.

I thought it would bring a smile , let's make it any animal,

Can you change that Bear, to any animal that would bring a smile to anyone's face? (versus just a dog?)

It was not so bad, he was killed by a truck, broken hips, then back then ribs then neck. But he looked perfectly fine on the outside. All internal crushing/dying.

SO-not so hard to spend 9 hours with him until the vet's of ice was open.

BUT there are so many FUN pics of animals out there, jumping into water, for flying over the rainbow bridge or using our Advanced/ Expert editing to make it , 'make sense' or to make it okay that we loved them and our happy memories even though we where not with them in the end.

My happy thought on all of this, is that my young German Shep was with him and pulled him by the collar to the dirt bank and sat with him until the police came, then he ran home , 5 mins before the police showed up. But at least I know , Gibbs , had his best friend with him at the end.

SO a HAPPY flying kitten, a snow bound dog jumping piles, a parrot biting someone's nose, kitten wrapped in Xmas lights, a rabbit humping someones foot (THat I have experienced several times till I caught on to what he was doing) .

A Happy Animal Challenge, Not a Happy Dog Challenge, that is not fair to all the others.

Anything that is happy, giggly, laughable, anything to make death more bearable.

Talking to Mr L about it, see what happenes.

Sorry about your loss, must be hard right now. Celebrating life sounds great to me, animals do this so spontaneously, good challenge suggestion.

My heart goes out to you and to your young Shep, who will be missing his best friend at least as much as you. It's a brave and wonderful suggestion for a challenge - I'm in, albeit my boxer has her own ideas and hasn't been a fab model before. I'll whisper in her ear that this is a special occasion...

I'm so very sorry to hear about your terrible loss, Juliet. In its shadow you've arisen wonderfully in suggesting a challenge that will help heal and remind us all of how precious animals are in our lives.
At this moment it may be cheesy to interject a personal note, but here goes. Part of my absence of several months is due to the fact that we've brought a puppy -- Shetland Sheepdog -- into our home. So this sad news has particular resonance. I'm the main "parent" since my wife is still working, and it's a full time job. Which brings me to the other reason for the absence --- last June I retired. So busy did I become that photography got shuffled out of the deck. It became apparent that my enjoyable habit of commenting at some length on photos that I especially appreciated was a function of having had a job with a lot of goofing off, errr, down time. I intend to reintegrate myself into this fine community at some point. In the meantime, what a pleasure to keep up with the beautiful work of such talented artists.
And again, Juliet, warm thoughts are with you in the days ahead.

Terrible, poor pooch. How did your dog get hit by a truck, did it escape your yard or something?
