Hello, .. I am going on a trip to Florida, and don't want to carry my 70d with either a 15-85 lens, or the 55-250 lens alone. I am looking for a minimal holster type top loading bag that will just barely accommodate this arrangement. I do have a wrist strap on the side, and a neck strap as well. The bag must accommodate a 4 inch lens hood when the 15-85mm lens is attached.

As I measure the camera, it is 6.25" wide, 5" tall (front to back in the bag) and 7.75" deep with the longer lens attached.
this doesn't include the neck strap which also has to fit in too)

I've looked and looked, and am becoming VERY frustrated. I want it to JUST fit.... not be so large as to be cumbersome!

Thanks...

Every bag I ever truly liked was bought by taking every piece of gear that I wanted to carry to the biggest camera store I could find and trying out every bag in the store. That's the only way I know how to do it. I have never found that I could look at a bunch of measurements on the web and figure out whether my gear was going to fit, or more importantly, whether the bag would be comfortable to carry around.

If you can sew, you can also make your own. There are lots of tutorials for this, but this seems to be one of the better, more form fitting bags.

I have a Tamrac model 5561 as my "traveling light" bag. It can hold my 50d with the my 18-135 attached and another lens in the bag if needed.

I don't think it would hold the 55-250 with the hood mounted, but generally, once I am walking about, the camera is outside the bag anyway. I thought it was overpriced when i bought it while on vacation, having previously seen similar sized bags for a lot less. But I have found that it is exceptionally well thought out, with lots of pockets and compartments right where I need them.

Looks like the blue one is $41 USD on Amazon, which I think is a pretty good deal.

For a digital holster type bag I highly recommend the Think Tank Photo Digital Holster line of bags. I have the biggest one they have the Digital Holster 50. The 10 would be about what you need, they have the interior dimensions listed with it collapsed and expanded, for the 10 it is 6" - 8 1/2". They also have a range of small bags that you can attach to the outside if you need a little more room. Sometimes I will attach one of mine (have several of them) on the outside to carry an additional lens and other stuff I may need. These bags are also very well constructed and come with a rainfly that stows in one of the external pockets.

One neat trick I figured out (I bought this when I had a Canon 7D and the Sigma 150-500, so with my Olympus gear it is a bit large but does allow my biggest lens to go in with the lens hood attached if I expand it all the way) is if you expand it all the way but put a divider (from some other bag you have, the inside is lined and will allow velcro to stick to it) in there to stop the lens at the perfect depth it gives you a place to stash stuff like extra batteries or what ever else you need. Granted it is only a few inches of space but it does come in handy.
