I'm with Neat on this one, complete nonsense and one I will be sitting out.

Have you ever titled a Free Study photo with your username? That's more of the point here is a light hearted challenge/social experiment to have a little fun and see how voters respond to knowing the identity of the photographer... Have fun on the bench...

I shall enjoy the bench and I will keep myself occupied picking the splinters from my behind ;-p

Feels like High School JV Basketball for me all over again... LoL... I'm too caught up in DPL right now, but the Social Scientist in me is really curious to get a look at the voting pattern when the voters know the identity... So even if I sit on the sidelines for this one, I'm looking forward to the result :)

That's a cool idea, never mind there would then be 100 pics with only 4 or 5 names ;-)

All this whining about titles.....my complaint is no-one ever reads the challenge description.......now where am I going to find a walrus to shoot?...:)
06/19/2015 10:06:35 AM · #32
To start off with I am surprised this actually got chosen, but really glad that it did given all the recent talk about voting and anonymity. Now I feel obligated to enter this but having a hard time keeping up with shooting for DPL. Somehow I have to fit in a trip to get my Pastel photo and a trip to my favorite state park this weekend. State park is to get a wildlife photo for this challenge...............so many photos to take.........so little time.

So we'll know who everyone's photo is?

Amongst other things I can see this challenge having the most DQ's ever - we already know many people don't read the description (and if they do then simply ignore it).

Imho a better idea would have been to include the submitters average score in the title and let the voters score the image if it's better/worse than their average if that makes any sense?

also in the title please include your SS#, your mother's maiden name and the city in which you were born.

I'm neither going to enter nor vote; I can't be objective, knowing who took the shot and I'm also sure nobody else can.

So if ten friends came up to you holding a print apiece and said, "Oliver, please settle a debate we're having: which of our images is the best, do you think?" you'd refuse to do that as a matter of principle?

I don't understand the problem everyone is having with this. Maybe it's because I know not one person on this site personally. Sure I chat with some online and I may seek out their opinion on a photo, but I have never met anyone from here. I have no problem voting on photos even if I know who the photographer is, even if I did know them personally. Maybe it's just my personality, but the social scientist in me (I am a demographer) is looking forward to this one.

It's the "vote for the cool kids" challenge.

+1. This place gets more and more cliquey with each passing year. It's like high school only worse.

Then vote my image super high (like....university drop-out high!). I've never ribboned, and it would certainly show those "usual takers of ribbons" a thing or two! ;-p

Besides i don't have 10 "best friends", i wouldn't, of course. Now, here things are different; there are people I like and people I don't like, i couldn't free my mind of that fact and would vote unfairly. in addition, the question here is not " which shot is best" but "how good is that shot compared to others"

I guess I don't see what people are getting so worked up about. You get to shoot what you love shooting most in a style and manner you love most. For one challenge we get to know who the photographer is and see what and how they love to shoot. I am excited to see what people enter. Will knowing who the photographer is affect the scores and outcome? Perhaps, but it is just one challenge among so many -- does it really matter?

Isn't that what Free study is for?

It's fine. Just retitle it 'facebook challenge' and all votes/voters should be identified too.

I don't get the point of jumping into the forums to bitch and moan about it. Whenever I don't like a challenge, I just don't shoot for it.
