I've got something very me, that will score poorly with a few high marks from the weirdos. That's what I do best. :-)

So this challenge should have been titled "What I Love Best?

LOL - for that, they probably give you a seatbelt to clamp on the 747 tailfeathers.

I'm sorry to report I was just yankin' your tailfeathers, pigeon-lover :-(

so it's a free study where any picture that i feel is OK-ish will be Tiberius :)

I'm in but I'm telling you here what it is (I don't like spoilers). I will, however, tell you what it's not. It is not still-life, not a studio portrait, not landscape, not a product shot, basically not the type of shots that I'm not passionate about (but do appreciate when done well and will vote accordingly). The reason I'm stating this is that I'm sure I will still get many DNMC votes :)

I'm looking forward to voting on this challenge as it will be fun and different as well as an interesting experiment.

This is not a bad challenge, once again!

Putting my egos aside, let me tell you why you will see what you will see...

I have quit portrait photography long time ago. Since I start using my iPhone, my style changed to more like painting-like or film-like photos. I am not considering myself a flower photographer, insect photographer or pets photographer "only" but those subjects are giving me the right feeling for my work. I do take people still and other stuff like scneries, still within my new style.

Why explain? Even though you will be seeing my name with my photo, and probably have some idea about my new style already, it will not be a shoehorn.

Can you explain why we are going to see what we are going to see from you?

I'm gonna take a fancy landscape with a skiff in the middle of it and claim I'm Bear_Music.

Or I may have to go shoot a pigeon. But not in Germany. It'll have to be a California pigeon.

This is the part I think will be a mind pretzel in voting on this. "Oh, I see this is a shot from Billy, but this is not Billy's essential style, far from it, it looks nothing like what I think his work ought to look like." DNMC.

This is supposed to not be a free study, right? So you vote on how well you think the photographers has captured their favorite subject and self definition? My brain already hurts.

I think I'll just vote on whether the image speaks to me or not, and any style or subject can.

What might be my favourite subject, or what I feel defines me as a photographer, may never have even found its way onto DPC yet. And I can't assume that what I associate with other people really displays their favourite subjects, or what they might feel defines them as photographers either. My brain hurts too.

Ladies and gentlemen...

This is probably "not" an "In the style of me" challenge, rather a challenge of your favorite subjects/style!

Even a portrait photographer probably loves to fake frog photos, it should not be count as DNMC... Make it your own. A pencil photo does not mean it's a shoehorn photo, maybe it is what you wanted to picture for a long time but hadn't have a chance to... explain why in the comment box, even we will read it "after" voting.

I think most of you think way to deep about this challenge. At the and, it it is a shoehorn photo, that means you love to take shoehorn photos, it should not make it a DNMC!

+1

I can't believe people are talking about DNMC, what are you talking about.....it's a FS, with your name put beside it, nothing more nothing less...relax!!!

the DNMC vote will be minimal, if you just think of it mathematically.

The percentage of voters who know who you are and are familiar with your work. let's say 10%.

Of those, the percentage who would dare to think they know your style better than you do. let's say 20%.

We are now down to 2%. And some of those will only dock 1 or 2 points. Maybe slightly higher for the ribbon hogs, but the reason they are ribbon hogs is because they never veer from their style, so don't lose sleep over them.

The challenge is only going to help scores, not hurt them. Voters will be more forgiving of a blurry mess because it happens to be that photographer's style (and they'll probably give the benefit of the doubt if they don't know the photographer).

I think voting will be the same as a free study .. . unless you are a photographer that causes problems around here ... for example, this person.

I didn't click the link, because I do not believe in calling people out in the forums. However, I am pretty sure I know who you mean...

Edited to correct auto-correct.

I always get a laugh to see who still falls for this.

Harrrumph! I don't know if I'm a "ribbon hog" but I've got more than 40 of them and if you look at my ENTRIES, I'm all over the map. Can't help it is a certain subset of those are the ones that appeal more to the voters, though. So here's a shout-out for all of us blind squirrels :-)

So you are predicting a higher challenge average than say the May FS?

I'm thinking it might be kinda high, yeah. I plan to give 10s to everyone who sends me a small gratuity in advance. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
