For you RAW shooters out there, don't forget to set your camera to "RAW+JPG" for the week. No need to use full size JPG either, since we are resizing to 1200 anyway. JPG Medium works just fine and is a smaller file on the card. For those of you who have cameras that will do different aspect ratios (my Lumix does everything from 1:1 to 16:9) be sure to take that into account when shooting...

I'd say you'd need a model release but John Edwards isn't in politics any more (what hair!)

i've found cell phone cameras are great for these minimal challenges, always jpegs and the framing is sometimes easier with a smaller device

what about editing software (knowing that most of them do not alter photographs) on the cell phone, would that be consider legit for minimal?

No.

as per rules

You may
sharpen your entry using your editing software's "sharpen" or equivalent option. The use of customizable sharpening tools, such as Unsharp Mask, is not allowed.

i think it may have come up before.... can we repeat the sharpening as many times as we want, making the image "grainy" or "pixelated"

Yes, you can use that basic sharpen as many times as you wish to, but DO bear in mind that if you change your picture so it doesn't "look like" the original anymore you are gonna get DQd. If you sharpen it a hundred times and pixelate the hell out of it, that's not gonna work.

Why are all these questions being asked? Isn't it clear that the SUBMISSION has to be essentially identical to the CAPTURE?

I don't much care for being hammered on for trying to explain, but I guess it goes with the territory. On behalf of all SC, let me reassure y'all that each and every one of us understands that whatever does not make you happy is entirely our fault. Do I sound frustrated? I hope so.
