I'll be in Cincinatti Sunday 11/28/2015. I've been there 2-3 times before on business but never had a chance to explore the city. I'll be flying into Dayton Saturday night and plan to wake early to head to Cincinatti for a day. I've already purchased tickets to see the Bengals play at 1pm but wanted some advice for before and after. I'll be alone and will have my camera.

What are some things to do and any ideas for some good shots to take?

Any area to stay away from in the city? Is there a lot within walking distance from the stadium to do or will I have to drive to a different area?

Hope there are some that live in the area. I know a coworker that lives in Mason that may be able to join me but she's not sure and not real familiar with the city either.

My wife and I went to a wedding in Cincinnati last summer and enjoyed an afternoon at the Contemporary Art Center. However, that was all we had time for, and our only time exploring Cincinnati. Surely there are others here that have spent more time there.

If you need a place in Dayton to eat, try out the Wheat Penny or Meadowlark. OK, I am bias -- my sister is the chef owner, but they generally rank well in lists of Dayton's best restaurants.

Usually I get a few good recommendations from a post like this on this site. Either the site is really slow or there is truly not much to do in Cincinnati. I plan to walk the river and take some photo's of the bridges.

Funny that you mentioned the Wheat Penny. I ate there last time I was in Dayton. It came highly recommended and was delicious. I also remember that it had an excellent local beer selection which I look for in a restaurant when visiting new places. I may have to try Meadowlark this time around.

I am glad to here you enjoyed the Wheat Penny. If you try the Meadowlark ask if Wiley is there. Tell her you're a friend of mine from that photo site.

I used to go to Cincinnati quite often for work when I was consulting for GE Aircraft Engines.

The sad news is that I've been there at least 30 times, and I can't think of many things I did except work. Not that there's not a lot to do!

I never made it to the GE Aircraft Engines visitor center, but that's supposed to be cool: //www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/blog/2014/01/cool-places-go-inside-ge-aviations.html. I did get to the Boeing equivalent in Seattle and that was great.

The zoo is also supposed to be nice...I may have actually gone there once too, but I don't recall for sure! (Sorry!)

You might want to try shooting from the Kentucky side of the river. Same bridges but the city-scape of Cincinnati in the background will look much nicer.

The only shooting I've done around Cincinnati is on trips with the kids, Newport Aquarium and a paddle boat ride. Both on the Kentucky side. And the Cincinnati Children's Museum (Inside the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal - Old train depot).

At the museum right now - World Largest Lego Art display and Tower A, the original control tower for Union Terminal, is free and open to the public on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays* from noon to 4 p.m.

Thanks for the advice. The Lego exhibit sounds fun and I'll attempt to get some shots from the Kentucky side either morning before the Bengals game to give myself some time in the evening for the museum.

Might be able to squeeze the zoo in as well. I think I remember reading somewhere that it's one of the oldest in the country.

The zoo is pretty good. A decent amount of shooting spots.

According to Wikipedia the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden (cool plants too, and they hold still!) is the second-oldest in the country, about a year younger than the Philadelphia Zoo ...
