I just watched this video, it's possibly a thing to keep in the arsenal when the question inevitably comes up

Funny and makes a good point.
The only work I do for free at this point is for my church or very close friends. I think many creatives tend to be insecure in the beginning so they are more comfortable not accepting payment - it keeps the expectations low (speaking for myself I suppose =I

Saw this a few days ago, and I've been practicing making that face :)

Funny that this comes up... I was just asked if I could take and share some candid photos at our company holiday party. In this case, I'll do it, mainly because I will have the camera with me anyhow (party is at the Harley Davidson Museum) and I do like to be on HR's good side :-)

My life.

How many times have I gone to a party (family or friends) and been asked with a shocked voice upon my arrival, "You didn't bring your CAMERA?!"

I'm thinking... "uhh... no... did you bring yours? I thought I was a guest... This is my off day from work, which is why I was able to come."

individuals and groups frequently ask our local photo club to cover events under the guise of offering opportunities - experience and exposure. sometimes this is okay, other times just plain shabby. wise as serpents...

I will usually do a test run for portraits and/or weddings.

Anyone else ever had that subject that seems perfectly normal but whatever you do, the images come out horribly?

I want to know how the subject & myself work together, and I want the opportunity to bail if I can't get decent images.
