Hey all

I love the Bowen-mount strobes I got myself for Xmas last year, but not so crazy about the lighting stands - they're somewhat on the flimsy side and I don't trust the locking mechanism. Anywhere I can get new lighting stands or good sturdy 2nd hand ones that peeps can think of?

you can use cheap light stands or pay for expensive ones. it all depends on how durable you want them to be and how you plan to use them, ie travel on location or keep them at home. you can always add weights to them to make them more sturdy.

if you are using large modifiers you want something with a larger footprint for stability.

It's more the strength of the locking mechanism for the lengths of pipe that concern me; there's at least one stand that I can't trust fully. It's a very cheaply made 3rd hand set of studio gear which I bought off of someone quitting the business. Bought it about this time last year.

Hey all

Just wanted to give a shout-out to thompp1, who notified me vis pm of some perfectly good, barely used lighting stands he had just taking up space in storage. He shipped them to me free of charge and asked nothing in return. Which, as some of you can guess, means only one thing can happen when I get sent nice things...whispering...*no tipping him off please!*

They are now safely homed in the studio of Chateau Snaffles and will definitely get put to good use! Thank you so much Paul for your generosity and it will be repaid. Muwahahaahaaaaa....;-)
