It doesn't matter where you live as long as you want to wear a traditional native clothing and do a self portrait. standard editing!

That was my first thought, LOL! And nobody wants to see that from me! Wait, let me clarify... not even nobody!

"Native" = "in the nude" only in Beau Brummel-type colonies, I'd say. No, not that British guy, this nudist from South Africa, who ran nudist camps in RSA.

The rest of the time "native" means "local" to us austere prudes.

I'll do it... if I have to. But... I'm not a fan of the challenge.

It would:

1- require my to buy/borrow/find some clothes

2- require me to be in the photograph

I'm not fond of either of those. :D

Traditional native clothing? What like Hollywood-esque buckskin/fringe/feathers? There are so many Aboriginal tribes up here that you would have to be very, very careful to get details right. Personally I think this topic is best left alone.

Unless of course we just do nudes. I'd rather do a nude than any spin on Aboriginal North American clothing. Just sayin.

Nudes and Australian aboriginal clothing ... the differences are minor. (Either way I'm out.)

aack! I wouldn't set out to offend, but I'm sure a photo of me in some native dress or other would offend someone. I can't call to mind anything I wear normally that would qualify as native dress.

One of my co-workers, well-liked & respected African American woman, came to work one Halloween Friday dressed as Buckwheat, from Spanky & Our Gang TV series, blackface & all. She so scandalized & offended her African American co-workers that she was sent home to change.

So I'm thinking that it'd be less perilous if maybe you changed it to doing a self-portrait dressed as one of your favorite movie or TV characters & let us guess who while voting?

Does it really have to be a self portrait? And why only restrict to clothing?
I can imagine that a wider interpretation would motivate more photographers to participate.

What about a challenge "folklore - show us what is special and typical in your part of the world"?

I think the OP has merit on its own, and doesn't need to be changed. you could always add this as a suggestion in its own thread as well. :)

Your own traditional dress according to your own heritage rather than the native dress of the area you live in might be the way to go. Or maybe that's what the op intention was all along?
