Take a picture with a Victorian inspiration. Clothes, Furniture, Post processing, anything...
Let's go back in time.

Victoria: First Look is coming to PBS, but not until next year ... :-(

But the previews show some examples of clothing, etc. :-)

Interesting that this came up now. I don't think I'd even heard of Steampunk until a week ago. Last Saturday I attended a bonsai meeting at which somebody tried to apply the concept of Steampunk to the art of bonsai. I'm not sure how keen I am on the combination, but it looks much more useful for photography.

I learned of Steampunk by watching the TV show Elementary, where the set design for Sherlock's NY brownstone is in Steampunk style. Challenges like this give me a reason to go do some more researching on the internet, which I enjoy. Real Victorian artifacts would be difficult to find, & by now are quite fragile. It's easier & more fun to create the Victorian look and feel with contemporary items, which is what Steampunk is doing. And let us not forget that post-mortem photography was popular during Victorian times. The daguerreotype was invented during Victorian times. It was the end of the pre-snapshot era.

I love that program. I never thought about the set design too much though. I'll definitely take more notice when I watch the next episode.

"The League of Extraordinary Gentleman" has a lot of Steampunk elements, if you have streaming Netflix you can watch it free. The latest "Around the World in 80 Days" ditto. The one with Jackie Chan in it...

Unfortunately I don't have Netflix. I'm not likely to get it either because my internet is a bit slow for watching long videos.
