Looks like dog is winning out. :)

That is great. A new dog. A new friend. A new model for challenges. Sounds like a winner to me.

Make SURE it's a dog that's photogenic. Stay FAR away from black dogs! I speak from experience. Border Collies, on the other hand, are great for photographing. So are Weimeraners!

Looking at another max: smooth collie. But blue Merle this time.

They're 1.5 weeks old, so right now they look like naked mole rats

It's not mine yet. I only have a couple of forwarded pictures from a breeder in Tennessee. It sounds like one of the puppies is mine, but I'm being cautious, because I was strung along for 4.5 months by another breeder. But this sounds really good.

So put THOSE in your workshop and show us the nekkid mole-rat puppies!

Hmmm -- ok, they're coming through as upside down mole rats, and I'm not quite sure why... I'll have to flip them later. Sorry!

That is so weird. I downloaded it again, it previews upright. It opens in photoshop upright. And when I save it out without changing it, it's upright.

Ah, I can almost smell that awesome eau-de-puppy! Nothing like it :-)

I thought I had a puppy I was getting in April.

The puppy died.

It's not fair. I feel horrible and I didn't even meet the puppy.

I've been looking now since October and it's getting harder.

Had to write this because I'm sitting here crying over a dog I'd never met, but still thought would be mine. Do I really want to put myself through this again? in 10-13 years it will hurt a lot more than this. :(

That is so sad, Wendy. I am sorry.

So sorry Wendy. Don't give up. The right puppy will come along and it will all be worth it in the end.

Ouch. That is a punch in the gut. I'll second what Gina said, hang in there.

Sorry about the puppy, Wendy. :-( Have you considered a shelter dog rather than a breeder dog? It's another option!

That's where we always get our cats, but I had a collie growing up and then our max and they were both such incredible dogs. When I was a teen-ager, my Hamilton had a founding dog that was incredibly sweet until my mom brought him to obedience school and he broke a metal choke collar trying to attack a full sized Doberman. He also was not to be trusted around little children. Sweet, gentle loving thing that has some scary quirks. With mo and cinders, I don't want to take chances. And I'd really like another collie. The smooths are just hard to find.

I know you have your eye on a breed, Wendy, but maybe just take a visit to a reputable shelter and meet their guests. You might be surprised. And as much as people would like to attribute specific traits to specific breeds, they're all individuals, too.

Get a dog.

And, Hi!
