I'm thinking of entering a challenge again for the first time in forever, but thing is I'll be using a phone camera. Unfortunately, it's a newer USB-C connection and I don't currently have a USB-A to C adapter cable to connect directly to my PC. (This WILL get remedied, just can't do it right away).

My question is, will uploading the original image to Google Drive for download to my PC ruin the original in any way that will render it unusable for challenge entries? No other software transfers, just direct upload to Google Drive then download to PC.

I assume it's pretty much the same as a direct transfer from phone to PC, but don't know if Google Drive does anything by default, if there are any settings I need to set, etc.

So... anyone?

I'll be the first to admit I have no direct experience doing it that way, but I cannot imagine any problem, since both transfers are just file transfers, yoiu're never opening the file. Most problems with JPEG files arise when the "transfer" application opens and marks the file on the way across. In your process, you are just using the respective operating systems.

My Sony has the new usb c connection but the normal usb size to connect to a computer/charger. You should have the same if you bought it brand new or you would be unable to charge it.

Mine came with a dedicated wall charger only.

I don't know much about cameras in phones but connecting some cameras to the computer can mess up metadata. It happened to my when I bought my Canon PowerShot SX700 HS. I had to buy a card reader so that I could safely enter challenges using that camera.
