Perfect, that is what I do.
Previously I think I imported, but now I do what you do.

Now when you open the file on your hard drive what file type do you open it with?
I have been opening mine using Irfanview.
It opens the file as a JPEG.

Would there be a second level of compression loss?

There will be no additional data loss until/unless you re-save again in JPEG format. As long as you save the opened file in PSD or TIFF format there will be only lossless compression.

Paul,

When you save as TIFF do you discard layers?

It comes up as one of the options to reduce file size.
