For a long time I've been worried about the poor sharpness of my Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS for Canon, so much so that I rarely use it any more. However it was only after I saw the sharpness of my new (second hand) Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM that I thought to test its performance against some of my other lenses. I set up my cameras on a tripod keeping all settings as similar as possible, and these are 100% crops of the results.

An extremely soft image with the 18-200 - this was the sharpest I could get using either autofocus or manual:

50mm f1.8:

And Olympus OM-D EM5 with kit lens (12-50mm):

Under the circumstances I think it's really time to replace this awful lens. After a bit of reading I've been considering the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Nano USM (newest version) which is said to have amazing autofocus speed, but I'm wondering whether I'll be satisfied with the image quality.

The kit of Canon 80D with Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Nano USM is on sale at a local shop right now and I'm really tempted.

Has anyone used this lens? If not this version then it's predecessor, the STM version. Apparently the image quality is the same.
